Brynn's Story

DAUNTLESS is the classic story of a founder who faced a problem and started a business to solve it for everyone else.

By the time Brynn was 14 years old, she was 6 feet (183 cm) tall. Since then, she struggled and failed to find tights that fit her. Finally in 2024, she had enough.

After noticing many others were struggling to find good tights, Brynn decided to use her background in fashion with her experience as an entrepreneur, data scientist, and product officer to finally fix hosiery.

Our Design Method

Brynn realised all hosiery brands used height and weight to approximate fit. In health and medicine, the relationship between height and weight is referred to as Body Mass Index (BMI).

While BMI may have some utility in other fields, it has no place in hosiery design because it cannot describe the distribution of mass across body tissues. Yet, it still was the premise every hosiery brand used to design tights.

Out with the Old, In with the New...

Brynn developed a new design premise for DAUNTLESS tights: the ratio of waist to hip circumference.

From analysing census data, Brynn realised height needs to be treated as largely independent from other measurements used to approximate body shape in hosiery design. The 2nd breakthrough happened when she found waist circumference and hip circumference to be closely correlated; if she had one, she could reliably predict the other. And most importantly, it was a much more reliable approximation for body shape in hosiery design.

From this basic principle, Brynn worked for 16 months to develop her patent-pending design. Finally, we have tights for taller people that fit perfectly.
